Our Story
In 1981, four brothers set out to bring the game they loved to their community. They opened two soccer stores in Northern Virginia, immersing themselves in the sport not just as business owners but as players and fans. They didn’t just sell boots and kits. They built relationships, learned the industry firsthand, and helped shape the way soccer culture was growing in the U.S.
They took the next step by launching Intersport, one of the first soccer-specific catalogs in the country. By attending trade shows, connecting with brands, and spending time on the pitch, they gained the knowledge and experience needed to take things further. In 1983, their ambitions expanded. Instead of just selling soccer products, they wanted to bring something new to the American game. Their focus turned to an Italian brand, and by 1984, they secured a distribution agreement.
For six years, they worked relentlessly to establish the Italian brand in the U.S. through grassroots marketing, forging relationships with specialty retailers, and earning endorsements from teams coached by former teammates and friends. The brand grew, and so did the brothers’ reputation in the industry.
But the business of distribution had its challenges. As the terms of their agreement became less viable, the brothers faced a decision. Walk away or create something of their own. They chose the latter.
With their foundation in the game and an unwavering belief in football’s purity, in 1992 they created Lanzera. The name was inspired by their high school mascot, the Livingston Lancers, infused with an Italian twist to honor their father’s heritage. Their logo, The Flying Four, symbolized the four brothers and their shared vision.
Through the 1990s, Lanzera became a brand rooted in the love of the game. It was for players who valued skill, creativity, and playing with a sense of purpose. Lanzera cleats and kits weren’t just products. They represented a style of play and a way of life.
Then, for a time, Lanzera faded. The market changed, the industry shifted, and the brand went quiet. But the passion that built it never disappeared. Football never left the brothers, and the spirit of Lanzera was never forgotten by those who had laced up in its boots.
Now, the wait is over. Lanzera is back, not as a nostalgia act but as a movement. A return to football’s essence.
We’re here for the Sunday league warriors, the pickup game purists, the fans who lace up just to feel the ball at their feet. For those who value touch over power, creativity over intensity, and the culture that makes football more than just a game.
Lanzera isn’t about chasing trends. It’s about preserving what makes the game beautiful, the artistry, the touch, the joy of playing. The legacy continues, not by looking back but by carrying forward what has always made football special.
